BRIGHT CONTEMPORARY DRESSAGE HORSE

This boy is hanging on my wall while I contemplate it's name...This painting has to be admired in person to fully appreciate the incredible depth of the colors...Once varnished the colors will pop even more and the painting will scream WOW...

BRIGHT LILY - TEXTURED WITH PALETTE KNIFE

Here is a re-vamped lily - with much more in your face textured color palette...The older rendition, though nice, did not scream "me"...Way too safe and boring...

SLUMBER SERIES - SLEEPING ORANGE TABBY CAT

GUESS WHAT...Here is another angel deep in his slumber. Do I smell a new series in the making? Maybe... Sleeping Angels...Sleeping Innocence...Must think of a great name...

This is Puglsey, a 5 year old Devon Rex boy, whose most favorite summer-time activity is to hunt large, flying grasshoppers. He looks so innocent while dreaming of his next grasshopper victim (LOL)...

FACES of RESCUE - ELVIS 59/100

This boy was rescued by his owner about 7 years ago. According to the vet, it appeared as if he was thrown out of a moving car.

I really had fun with the RED/ORANGE color scheme on this painting!

BOSTON PUP ON RED

Here I go again...Last few days I have been suffering from an artist block...I sort of misplaced my MOJO... This was my attempt at regaining my feel for the brushes...I went very loose and painterly with this boy...Hope you like it...

PEAR STUDY

I managed to paint couple of small pear studies before devouring the tasty fruit...I was relatively happy with the way the first one (the bottom picture) came out , but it did not feel right..It was not me..It was too plain...With animals, I like to have fun with cropping and colors, but for some reason I thought that with fruit you could not do it..But then I tried and found that my FUN style worked quite nicely with this pear. Next, I must try an apple or a lemon !!!

Biggs - Work in Progress

It has been a while since I painted Mr.Biggelsworth (aka Biggs) - I looked at his picture that always hangs in my studio and knew that it was time for another creation. He really was an incredible, once in a lifetime cat and a day doesn't go by that I don't miss him terribly.

This is still very much work in progress. I just figured that it would be fun to share my painting process.

This is done on a 16x20 stretched canvas that was first primed with grey gessoe.

I used a viewfinder to decide on an interesting cropping and then used a soft pastel to roughly sketch out the boy. The three photos show the progression of the paint application. With Biggsy, I normally let my heart do the painting - and once the basic shapes are laid out, I barely ever look at the photo...

This is supposed to be a painting of my "little red dress" - It did not fit so well (shrunk in the closet - LOL) when I tried it on the other night.
