WORKSHOP WITH DREAMA TOLLE PERRY Day 1 - SOLD

I was extremely fortunate to be able to attend a most fabulous workshop with Dreama here in North Carolina. It was an inspiring experience to watch Dreama in action and  be able to paint in company of so many gifted and wonderful artists.  Big thank you goes out to Lynda Chambers for organizing such great event and to cook amazing lunches for us all!

Dreama provided some wonderful photos for us to use as reference. She trully has the most amazing eye for composition and color... Here is a bouquet of pink petunias and white daisies in a gorgeous blue glass vase. I must admit, I was a bit intimidated the first time I glanced at the reference photo, but after few quick demos by Dreama the paint started flowing!

To all you Artist's out there - If you ever have the opportunity to take a workshop with Dreama - Jump on it!!!

SUNFLOWER AND CARNATION FLORAL by OLGA WAGNER

Here is another floral that I believe is 99.99% complete...I have not varnished this baby yet...It is hanging on my wall as I contemplate the blue background..I really love the overall feel and look and that is why I have taken the painting of the easel and hung it on the wall...Originally I was going for a more washed out blue, but the color fiend in me took over...As always...

LONE PINK TULIP on BLUE

My brother asked to work on a tulip arrangement for him...I feel like I need to work on a few singular flowers to get an hang of this simple looking yet quite intricate flower...My hubby is one who truly appreciates this beautiful flower. We must have around 300+ tulip bulbs in the ground waiting to come up this spring...
LONER 4" x 12 " Oil on Stretched Canvas

I took some time last night to prime a bunch of smaller canvases and panels. It's nice to have a bunch ready to go when inspiration strikes. Lately I have been using Colored Gesso by Holbein. It's rather pricey, but the coverage and color that you get from Holbein is worth every penny! Orange is my favorite by far, but I also use the red on a regular basis. I like to use a palette knife to apply the gessoe as it adds a bit of texture to the canvas, and I love texture...

Floral Study

We must have about 12 different varieties of Lavender in our garden. Early this spring, we noticed that our youngest kitty enjoys lounging on Lavender- and now we have a whole section in our garden devoted to this plant - all thanks to the little Pugsley...

Here is my entry for the April Virtual Sketch Date Challenge. The original photograph of this Rhododendron Bud was provided by Jeanette Jobson and can be seen on the VSD blog. Hibiscus

"Hibiscus" - 6x6 Oil on Canvas Panel

.
This was inspired by all the spring flower catalogs that my husband has been getting in the mail. Hibiscus is by far his most favorite flower - I find it very pretty, but it really lacks in the smell department.
