My name is Jasper and aside from being handsome, let me tell you a little more about myself:
.
I’m an adult male, approximately 2-3 years old. I’m a handsome Flame Point Siamese Mix with big beautiful blue eyes. I’m laid back fellow with a very loving personality. I love affection – I love to give it and most definitely love receiving it. I love to cuddle and it would be so great to be able to cuddle with a new human friend. I’ve also been told that I’m like a big teddy bear (my nickname is “bear cat”). As you can see, I would be the perfect friend/pet for any human family or single person.
.
I am FIV positive. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or any other species. FIV is a slow virus that affects a cat’s immune system over a period of years. Many FIV+ cats can live long, healthy and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. FIV is not easily passed between cats; it cannot be spread casually in litter boxes, water/ food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. The virus is spread through blood transfusions or penetrating bite wounds, however, bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare except in free-roaming, unneutered tomcats.
.
A neutered cat is extremely unlikely to infect other cats. FIV+ cats need annual or twice yearly vet checks and if they become ill, it is important to get treatment quickly. Vaccinations for FIV+ cats always need to be up-to-date and be treated for fleas and de-wormed on a regular basis. Actually, this is true for all cats. Jasper was pulled from a high kill shelter where he stood little chance of being adopted.
.
Alley Cats and Angels will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding adopting an FIV positive cat
