This a sneak peak of what is to come tomorrow... I am hoping to be able to finish this cuteness tonight. I am thinking the name "Solid Foundation" would go nicely with this image.

The "kitten season" is in full swing and most rescuers will tell you that this year seems to be especially bad - at least here in North Carolina. As with all my paintings - a percentage of sale proceeds will be donated to a local rescue group

This is one of my "babies", Nash. He is a purebred Devon Rex and epitomizes "Royalty".

He could very well be the STAR of the great children's story by Hans Andersen, "Princess and the Pea", where only the real princess could feel the pea through 20+ mattresses. Nobody but a real princess could have such a delicate skin. Well - That's my Nash and I LOVE him...

Simon was in a shelter in CT and in danger of being put down. He's had several rounds of cancer treatments ( both before and since he was adopted). He is 150% love. His favorite spot is any open lap and he loves to give hugs in return for all the loving he gets. At night he usually curls up in his owner's arms and acts as the pillow. Simon is truly a soul mate kitty.

Drusilla was adopted in 2005 at the age of two. When she arrived at the Wake County SPCA she had to be isolated for being antisocial with both people and other cats. While they were treating her for fleas, ear mites, etc. she started to warm up to the other animals and was eventually placed up for adoption. In the past Drusilla's new owner never had a specific color or breed in mind when adopting and animal, but this time she knew that she really wanted a completely black cat to name Drusilla (after the female vampire on Buffy the Vampire Slayer). So, after getting to the shelter she went right over to the black cats. Drusilla was the first one she saw. The once totally antisocial cat came right over to her, let her pick her up, and even licked my cheek. That was all it took! Drusilla went to her new home that day.

After taking about two months to warm up to her new owner and her new surroundings, Drusilla became the most loving, social cat I have ever. She greets everyone at the door, sits on visitors' laps, lets almost anyone pick her up, and gives everyone kisses. She has also become her owner's shadow, following her around wherever she goes. She is the best little girl, ever

Meet Fingal. He is a rescue from Cat Angels in Cary. Back in August Cary Animal Control was called in to assist a woman whose house was overrun with Siamese and Siamese mixes.

Fingal's current owner's cat (Foppa) was very ill at the time and one of the last times that Foppa cuddled up with her was when they were watching the news and there was a story about the rescue. The owner decided to go and meet the cats that were available for adoption and during the visit Fingal was the one who picked her as his new owner. The rescue was a little worried about being able to adopt him out because he was a tuxedo and did not have the classic siamese markings - except for his cutest crossed eyes!

Cat Claws Studio would like to announce a Halloween Fundraiser that we are calling Spooktacular Nap-A-Thon.

This Fundraiser will benefit all the cute little fuzzies at the Safe Haven for Cats No-Kill Cat Shelter in Raleigh NC.

Today’s tough economy is having an impact on the cats. The reality finds fewer cats adopted and more abandoned at the door or returned when household finances worsen. Currently Safe Haven for Cats is caring for over 100 cats daily (the most in the 15 year history of the organization) and more than 75 cats and kittens are on the waiting list to come into the shelter.
