April Virtual Sketch Date

"Bud" - 6x6 Oils on Gessoed Masonite
Sold

Here is my entry for the April Virtual Sketch Date Challenge. The original photograph of this Rhododendron Bud was provided by Jeanette Jobson and can be seen on the VSD blog. My inspiration for the simple light colored background came from Diane Hoeptner - She is fabulous when it comes to florals!

Your painting is beautiful! The way you captured the light creates a refreshing approach. I had a lot of trouble finding the light in it. But you created it brilliantly.

Thank you very much - normally don't paint flowers - but had a good time experimenting

This has real depth to it. I like it a lot.

I'm not a flower painter at all but like to push myself outside my comfort zone now and then.

This is a beautiful painting. It is so soft and delicate. The way you have used light is incredible. I feel like I could almost reach out and touch this bud.
