TUXEDO CAT BALL Donation in the Making

There is still a bunch of work left on this one, but I wanted to give all interested parties a preview of one of the paintings that will be auctioned of at the Seventh Annual Tuxedo Cat Ball - A spectacular fundraiser to benefit the cats in the care of Safe Haven for Cats. The funds raised at the April 29th event will be used in 2011 to rescue and adopt more than 500 cats and kittens and to assist the community by providing spay and neuter services to more than 1500 cats!

Announcing a Fundraiser for Safe Haven for Cats

..
..

Cat Claws Studio would like to announce a Halloween Fundraiser that we are calling Spooktacular Nap-A-Thon.

This Fundraiser will benefit all the cute little fuzzies at the Safe Haven for Cats No-Kill Cat Shelter in Raleigh NC.

Today’s tough economy is having an impact on the cats. The reality finds fewer cats adopted and more abandoned at the door or returned when household finances worsen. Currently Safe Haven for Cats is caring for over 100 cats daily (the most in the 15 year history of the organization) and more than 75 cats and kittens are on the waiting list to come into the shelter.

Trick or Treat....Would you please consider making a small donation to my Nap-A-Thon.... www.firstgiving.com/ogs_wagner

SHFC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization
and all donations are tax-deductible. SHFC does not get any municipal, city, state or federal funds. All the money to support the shelter comes from individual donations like yours.

In return for your donation - your name will be entered into a raffle for the original oil painting that you see on the right (or any other painting of your choice that available from http://www.catclawsstudio.com/
)

SHFC Kitten

This is one of the many kittens that came through the Safe Haven for Cats doors this year alone. I absolutely loved the photo, but I did make the kitten a bit more orange than he really was. I am not sure what I will do with the painting. I am currently working on a "Halloween" fundraiser for SHFC and might offer this painting as part of the raffle...We'll see...More details to come in the next couple of days.

Art for the Animals Project

If you have not heard about it, or have not had a chance yet to check out the Art for Shelter Animals Project - I highly recommend that you click HERE and visit the blog. The project is so simple and yet so rewarding - Artist creates a painting of an animal and donates that painting to a local shelter (with no strings attached)..

WIP - Tuxedo Cat Ball #2 Painting

After adding a bit of texture to the fur. The painting is almost done - I will still have to work on the eyes and some of the finer details, such as the whiskers....

"To be named later" - 14x18 Oil on Canvas

This is still work in progress, but I wanted to post a preview. I wanted to do at least one painting for the Tuxedo cat Ball on a very bright (WOW) background - I think this will do quite nicely!

The photo reference for this painting was taken by Luis G. Gomez. His wonderful photography can be viewed here flicker

Tuxedo Cat Ball Portrait - Sneak Preview

This is what it looks like after I transferred the sketch to the 16x20 museum style canvas. I still like the look of it. I will be posting updates as the painting progresses!

A quick sketch of my vision for the composition of the final painting. I repositioned and tilted the head just a tad to get that "looking at you" feeling. I am thinking 16x20 would be a perfect size.

This is the original photo that I am using for this years Tuxedo Cat Ball Painting. Oreo was a kitten that came through the Safe Haven for Cats rescue.
