SOLD - CONTEMPORARY OWL PAINTING in OILS by OLGA WAGNER

WOW...It has been way, way too long since I had time to play in my studio... I had a great deal of FUN working  on this wise owl.  Midway through this painting, I was starting to second guess myself - things felt a bit rusty, but a deep breath later and the power of creative juices started flowing again...I love this boy!

CONTEMPORARY GOLDEN EAGLE in OILS by OLGA WAGNER

According to Wikipedia, the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is one of the best known birds of prey in the Northern Hemisphere. They are agile, powerful and intense birds. All you have to do is look at those eyes to see feel the intensity behind them.

I love this painting. The simple and free strokes of the background contrast nicely with the power of the stare and brightness of the color splashes.

DON'T MESS WITH GREATNESS
Available through the Daily Paintworks Auction
6 x6 x0.75 Oil on Cradled Ampersand Panel

The beginning of the painting starts with a simple sketch with transparent orange paint that has been lightly diluted with painting medium.

This phase shows the underpainting done in transparents before I started adding definition and more color.

SOLD BLUE MACAW BIRD in OILS by OLGA WAGNER

Here comes some COLOR!

Hyacinth Macaw is almost entirely a deep shade of solid blue, with only slight patches of bright yellow around the eyes and beak. from what I have learned Hyacinth Macaw is the largest of all Macaw species and it also sounds as if it one of  more gentle and friendly birds out there!

CONTEMPORARY BALD EAGLE OIL PAINTING by OLGA WAGNER

This painting of a gorgeous Bald Eagle has areas of thick oil paint application using the palette knife. When you look at it in person, his hairdo has a 3-D look to it...Pretty amazing. I loved using the transparent paints as foundation for the painting an keeping most of the background transparent. It makes the bird come to life...This painting is bit larger than the others in this series.  It's 12 x 12 x 0.75.

SOLD - FRESH START with CONTEMPORARY EAGLE by OLGA WAGNER and ART SHOW

Some family issues forced me to take about 6 month off from painting...Oh boy...I missed playing in my studio....Now that stars are aligning in my favor, I have started a new "Winged" Series in preparation for my upcoming Show that is being held next Friday at Local Color Gallery in Raleigh, NC.  You ask: Why Birds???  Well...I feel like I am being given an opportunity for Fresh Start. A Fresh Start in my life and surely a Fresh Start in my ART.  Since, I have never painted a bird series, it perfectly FITS my Fresh Start philosophy!
