CONTEMPORARY GOLDEN EAGLE in OILS by OLGA WAGNER

According to Wikipedia, the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is one of the best known birds of prey in the Northern Hemisphere. They are agile, powerful and intense birds. All you have to do is look at those eyes to see feel the intensity behind them.

I love this painting. The simple and free strokes of the background contrast nicely with the power of the stare and brightness of the color splashes.

DON'T MESS WITH GREATNESS
Available through the Daily Paintworks Auction
6 x6 x0.75 Oil on Cradled Ampersand Panel

The beginning of the painting starts with a simple sketch with transparent orange paint that has been lightly diluted with painting medium.

This phase shows the underpainting done in transparents before I started adding definition and more color.
