Nacho Looking Up

My cat Nacho was an inspiration for this one, but the final result doesn't look anything like him. The nose is way to short and the eyes are too round and the over all color has too much orange in it....The expression is also lacking that 'EVIL' look.

The painting started out looking more like him, the work in progress show a longer nose and pointier chin...But since he was only the inspiration for this painting, I did not worry about the final likeness - I wanted to capture the green eyes against the burned orange background...

This one was painted on a 12 x 36 Gallery Wrapped Canvas that I first primed with grey gessoe. I used a yellow soft pastel stick to sketch out the overall shape...

Oh my goodness but he is a beauty! I love the complementary colors of orange/green too.
