Merlin - In Memory

I have been busy working on a few commissions, but managed to squeeze this little boy in between couple of the bigger works. This is Merlin, or rather a very abstract version of Merlin. He belonged to one of my veterinarians -he passed away recently and is sorely missed!!!
I was thinking about painting a larger version and give it to Dr. Dorsh as a gift and wanted to try the color combination on a smaller scale - I think I really like the way he came out and with a nice frame this might just be THE gift.

I love the brush strokes here intermixed with bits of previously laid down color. The Vet love this. How thoughtful are you.

He's perfect, a beautiful way to honor little Merlin. Sharing your gifts with others is a wonderful gesture and will be appreciated forever and ever.

This is just incredibly beautiful - and the eyes so full of emotion. I love the composition as well. A perfect gift.
