Animal Protection Society

This boy will be going to the Animal Protection Society (Orange County of NC). This photo does not do the painting justice. The colors are much brighter in real life. Once the painting dries a bit, I will take another photo and hopefully eliminate some of the glare.

This is Brewster, the most photogenic little corgi. Few months back I did a similar little portrait for his owners. For this one I used a slightly different composition and brightened up the colors a bit...

Following the Masters Challenge

This is my first entry to the Following the Masters challenge. The challenge for this month was Landscapes. Here is my representation of the wonderful painting "Morning Catskill Valley" by George Inness. All his landscapes are truly exceptional and I had a difficult time picking a single one to work on. The colors on this one were just too lush for me to overlook - I love fall colors in particular orange - very yummy color.

Progress on Pierre...

This weekend I finally had some time to work on the large Frenchie that I started in early, and I was able to make some real progress on the boy. Here is where it stands right now. I am sure that I will play with is some more - but overall -I am happy it...

More Eggs

Trying to finish the brown egg theme. White eggs will come sometime in a near future...Here is a small one that I finished tonight. My husband had the naming rights to this one...

In the Moment

This is my baby sister loving every minute of her ride on Chester, an incredible dressage schoolmaster. I took this photo couple of years ago when she came down to visit me for a few days. She had a blast and made all the work look easy....

Walking on the Beach

I found this cool blog, "Following the Masters". It's a monthly art challenge blog where artwork from an old master artists is selected for duplication. Copying old master paintings is a time honored tradition for learning technique and improving your artwork. The painting chosen for last month's challenge was "Walking on the Beach" by Spanish Impressionist Painter Joquin Sorolla y Bastida (1863-1923)

Cracked Egg #2

Second attempt at the brown eggs...I think it's time to go out and buy some white eggs and give them a try.

ACEO - Bonnie

Here is another tiny boston that I did last night after work. I must say, I find working on this small scale extremely challenging...I find it hard to be loose and still relatively detailed on this tiny piece of canvas.

Egg on Skillet

I don't paint food very often, but I just had to do this one. White eggs would have been probably much easier to deal with...Still, I think it came out cool!

Different Strokes Challenge - Madison Ave

Here I go - This is my first attempt at the Different Strokes challenge. The start was a bit hampered by the lack of vision. But once I started it was not so bad - it was actually kind of fun. I went with a very loose interpretation of the scene -

My full time job is killing me!!! It's not enough that it doesn't leave me with enough time to paint, but it's also draining me of all creative juices... Every night for the past week, I have been wanting to start on the Different Strokes challenge -but, it's like the creative powers have left me and the challenge seems so outside my zone (at the moment)... So, here is another Frenchie...These always seem to cheer me up...

On the Go

Here is a little bulldog out for a walk. This is probably my first animal painting that doesn't have the power of the eyes. Oh well...His buttocks are kind of cute too...

It's been a little over 3 years since my Biggsy passed away. A day doesn't go by that I don't miss that big little man. He was a "once in a lifetime" kid. I was going through some old photos that were stashed away in some shoe boxes an found a photo of him as a 6 mos old little rascal. Here is a headshot showing off his gorgeous orange coat an bright green eyes.
